Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Spring 2019
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/18/2019
Beating out Sidney Crosby for the Calder Memorial Trophy in 2006, Alexander Ovechkin is currently in his fourteenth NHL season, with over 600 goals scored thus far. We have a stick used by Ovie in the late-2000s, with this desirable example signed. A CCM custom model with “8 OVI” graphics, a factory number and bar code appear along the underside. The stick retains its white tape over the blade and red gauze-style over the handle, with "8" handwritten. Alex has signed just below the front side heel in silver, and the signature stands out beautifully against the black background. An Ovechkin hologram has also been added to the lower shaft.
Showing light game use with wear to the taped underside of the blade, there are also a few abrasions to the lower shaft. We should also note that it appears that a few strands from the bottom of the taped handle are possibly missing.
