Only the 15th player throughout the NHL’s long and illustrious history to reach the majestic 500-goal milestone, Bryan Trottier not only achieved the awe-inspiring feat, he was the tenth quickest to summit the impressive plateau, netting his historic marker in just his 1,104th game, on February 13th, 1990. Especially historic and worthy of ultimate hobby reverence, we have the Islanders jersey the HOFer wore while entering the record book, with his 500th goal jersey from the 1989-90 season, and it’s been photo-matched! A Maska Air-Knit label with handwritten “54” sizing graces the collar, with an embroidered CCM crest over the reverse hem. Styled with the iconic Long Island team crest in layered, tri-colour tackle twill, the white V-neck sweater has been accented with royal blue sleeve and verso numbers with orange trim, along with a thin alternate’s “A”, with “Trottier” across the nameplate in single blue twill.
A plethora of puck and stick marks litter the front, reverse and sleeves, testament to the garment’s extended use and Trottier’s aggressive play. A couple fabric pulls are also visible, with a few faint burns present over the right sleeve, along with a bit of red paint transfer situated over the reverse bottom and blue paint transfer near the right elbow. We should also note that the jersey was previously mounted within a display, with pinholes visible over the collar, each shoulder and sleeve. An included newspaper photo with caption “Bryan Trottier (19) slips his 500th goal between Rick Wamsley’s pads” has been used for the photo-match, with the jersey matched to the unmistakable large and thick black stick mark that runs through the “N” of “NY” over the upper left portion of the team crest. Over 15,000 witnessed the iconic goal that evening, at Nassau Coliseum, now, only one fortunate individual can own the paramount jersey. Originating from Bryan Trottier’s personal collection, an LOA from the family will accompany this highly desirable, Hall of Fame jersey.
