A mixed bag of publications, including six items from the Bentley brothers, we have five Toronto Maple Leafs programs from the 1940s, fifteen hockey magazines from the 1950s to 1970s, a pair of 1960s NHL hockey annuals along with an additional three misc. hockey publications, nine baseball publications/programs from the 1950s to 1970s and a pair of baseball media guides. The Bentley items include an exhibit postcard from the late-1940s (good condition with creases, corner wear and paper loss over the reverse), a 'Famous Bentleys' book from 1947 (8” x 10” with light handling wear and toning), a 1950-51 Black Hawks team picture (8 ½” x 11” with fold lines, an edge tear and tape over the reverse), an interesting Ottawa Commandos photo booklet from 1942-43 featuring Ken Reardon, Sugar Jim Henry, Neil Colville and others (6 ½” x 9 ½” with light to moderate wear including creasing), a “Sport” magazine from 1947 with the brothers on the cover (moderate wear including to the spine and rusty staples) and a Feb 1st 1951 Chicago Stadium program for a match vs Boston, won by the Hawks 3-1. (moderate wear with intact line-up and pencil to the cover, along with a tear to the spine). For the Leafs programs we have; an example for a March 27th Game 4 first round playoff match vs the Bruins, won by the visitors 2-1, with intact line-up and just very light wear; a Nov 17th 1945 program featuring a 6-5 loss to the Red Wings, with intact line-up and light to moderate wear with some creasing; an example from a Dec 8th game in 1945, with the Habs shutting out the Leafs 1-0, with detached line-up and moderate wear and toning, with a tear along the spine; a program from Nov 1st 1947 for a game against the Bruins, with the score ending tied 1-1, with intact line-up and moderate cover wear, and some rusting to the staples; an example from Feb 28th 1948 featuring a Leafs 4-3 win over the Hawks, with intact line-up and moderate wear including a cover crease and spine tear. Next, the hockey magazines have mostly Habs covers and include a pair from 1957 (Plante and Geoffrion covers – moderate wear to both, with edge tears to the Plante example and soiling and a spine tear to the Geoffrion mag), a dozen examples from the 1960s in pleasing condition with light to moderate wear, with Howe, Hull, Geoffrion, Richard and others on covers, and a single magazine from 1974 (Hockey Guide – with Frank Mahovlich cover, moderate wear). The misc hockey publications include a 1949-50 “Hockey Album” (6” x 9” and in good condition with heavy creasing), a Hockey Digest from 1962 (3” x 4” with wear to the spine), and one other publication. The hockey annuals are from 1960 and 1963 (8 ½” x 10 ½” – with both showing lighter to moderate wear, with a vertical crease through the 1960 annual). Lastly, for baseball, we have a pair of Montreal Royals programs from the 1950s, a trio of early-1970s Red Sox programs, 1951 and 1975 Red Sox yearbooks, a 1975 Dodgers yearbook and an Aug 29th 1971 Dodgers vs Mets Shea Stadium program with ticket stub. The baseball publications vary in condition, with no obtrusive damage visible to any.
