An institution in New York and one of the oldest franchises out of the major sports teams that inhabit The Big Apple, the New York Rangers are currently in their 92nd NHL season, and are 5th all-time for wins. We have a collection of Rangers media guides (7) and programs (5), with a few desirable gems present. Loaded with wonderful and pertinent Blueshirts information, we have a single media guide from the 1940s, with an example from 1948-49, three “Blue Book” media guides from the 1950s including examples for 1952-53, 1953-54 and 1956-57, followed by three guides from the 1960s, with examples for 1962-63, 1965-66 and 1966-67. Each is complete with just light wear exhibited throughout, with toning and a few creases to the cover of the 1962-63 guide. The programs include a pair from the 1950s, with an example for a Jan 18th match-up against Boston, with the center line-up intact (loose as issued), with moderate wear including along the spine, with a tear along the base. The second 1950s example originates from an Oct 28th 3-3 draw in 1959 vs the Red Wings, with the center line-up intact (loose as issued), and light wear including some toning. The 1960s programs include an Oct 23rd example in 1960 with the Habs visiting, noteworthy for US Olympic netminder Jack McCartan appearing in his second game. In beautiful condition, there is some rusting to the staples, with the center line-up partially-detached and showing wear. Next, we have a program from another Canadiens visit, this time on Nov 25th 1962, with the Habs taking the win 3-1. With just very minor handling wear present, the program displays beautifully. The final program was issued for a match against Toronto on Nov 6th 1966, with the game ending in a 3-3 stalemate. Notable for Geoffrion’s first goal as a Ranger, the program is in excellent condition with an inserted flyer for the “new” Madison Square Garden.
