Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Spring 2019
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/18/2019
Celebrating the first American city to feature an NHL club, we have a great pair of early Boston items, with a seldom-seen yearbook for the fourth-season Bruins in 1927-28, along with a Boston Arena program predating the famous franchise, for “Championship Hockey” matches, between the Boston Shoe Trades (USAHA) and Toronto Aura Lee (OHA SR) on Feb 21st 1921, and the Boston AA Unicorns (USAHA) and the Toronto Aura Lee on Feb 22nd. The Bruins yearbook is approx 4” x 6”, with the full team including photos and listed bios as well as a 1926-27 team photo, with the club’s home schedule presented on the back cover. The 1921 Boston Arena program lists the line-ups for both matches, with HOFers Billy Burch and Lionel Conacher appearing for Toronto.
The Bruins yearbook shows moderate handling wear, with the staples clean and firmly attached, with some light creasing to the covers, minor staining and spine wear. The top corner on the back cover has also been clipped, with just a very small portion missing. The Boston Arena program exhibits a vertical fold line/crease that runs through the publication, along with a second vertical crease over the back cover and general toning.
