Direct from the personal collection of NHL superstar and New York Rangers’ legend Vic Hadfield, we have a collection of framed Toronto Blue Jays art work (3) by editorial cartoonist and Toronto Sun Art Director Andy Donato. Each work features charming images featuring the Jays, with the first showing action against the Tigers (14” x 18”, framed to 20 ½” x 25”), the second a comical seen with a swinging batter burying himself (12” x 16”, framed to 19” x 23”) and the third, picture’s Jerry Garvin throwing a fireball against a Twins batter (12" x 18", framed to 19" x 25"). “Donato” appears along the bottom of each, with each work in beautiful condition. As an added bonus, we also have a Mickey Mantle cardboard advertising piece (14” x 22”), from Baseball Life Stories in 1953, with a large image of The Mick on the left, and text on the right. There is some warping and water staining to the piece, along with a few creases. A signed LOA from Mr Hadfield will accompany.
Andy Donato is an editorial cartoonist and is also the former Art Director of the Toronto Sun. Born in Scarborough, Ontario in 1937, Donato began his career as a layout artist for Eaton's before becoming a graphic artistic for the Toronto Telegram and later moving on to the Toronto Sun where he would remain for much of the rest of his career.
