Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Spring 2019
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/18/2019
"The Trail of the Stanley Cup" is a definite prerequisite to any important hockey library. Author Charles Coleman's complete history of hockey and Lord Stanley's trophy from 1893 to 1967 is contained within these three books. Only 1,000 copies of the special leather-bound editions of the first and second book were produced and presented to important hockey figures, while the third was limited to 1,500 copies. Hailing from the Vic Hadfield collection and originally presented to MLG Director R.J. Amell, the books offered are a true three-volume set with matching numbers (208), with Armell’s NHL presentation bookplate detached within the first volume. Each feature’s its original slip case with gilded Stanley Cup image, with the third volume containing an NHL 60th anniversary bookmark. A signed LOA from Mr. Hadfield will accompany.
Each volume shows light wear, including over the spine of the third volume, with a few creases, surface loss (along corners) and edge tears to the volume 2 and 3 slip cases. The plastic cover on volume 1 also exhibits an area of loss over the top of the spine.
