Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2019
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/26/2019
Born in the UK – an introduction rarely used when describing hockey players – Norman Mann spent multiple seasons in the AHL throughout the late-1930s/early-1940s, with appearances made for the Toronto Maple Leafs in 1938-39 (16 games) and 1940-41 (15 games). We have a Leafs contract for the Yorkshire native for the 1939-40 NHL season, signed by HOFers Frank Calder and Conn Smythe. At 8 ½” x 14” (unfolded), the official Player’s Contract called for Mann to earn $3,400.00 for the season, with an alternate amount should he be demoted to the minors. Partially stamp-dated Nov 10th 1939, the Smythe and Calder signatures display well, with just a bit of smudging to the black ink Calder example.
The contract itself exhibits light handling wear with expected fold lines.
