Their 12th season of existence and led by leading scorer Red Beattie, the 1935-36 Boston Bruins finished 2nd in the American Division during the regular season and 4th overall, with legendary bruiser Eddie Shore taking home the NHL’s Most Valuable Player honours. Originally hailing from the collection of iconic Beantowner and HOFer Milt Schmidt, we have a gorgeous large-format photo of the 1935-36 Bruins that was obtained from his family, with this example most likely seeing original placement within Boston Garden. At approx. 15 ½” x 19 ½”, the vintage photo has been affixed to a cardboard matting, with the year handwritten along the bottom right. The full team is pictured in an on-ice pose including Art Ross and coach Frank Patrick, with fellow HOFers Shore, Thompson, Clapper, Siebert, Cowley and Cooney Weiland all pictured.
Toning to the image has taken place over the last 80+ years, with some minor staining along the bottom left side. There are also a few creases and some corner wear, with a 2” tear along the middle left edge, with this damage only affecting the photo, with the matte completely solid and unaffected. Despite these expected issues, the photo displays absolutely wonderfully, and would look striking framed.
