Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2019
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/26/2019
Each puck originally distributed by Hockey Diversified for the 1972-74 NHL Goal Puck Program could be obtained by mail with the buyer's choice of team and possibly player. A label was affixed to each puck listing the scorer, team and date, along with a code that divulged which team-goal said puck accounted for. We have a trio of Montreal Canadiens pucks that all saw action at the Forum, with each used to score NHL goals. The first was used by Arnie Brown to score the New York Islanders 59th goal of the 1972-73 season, on Dec 20th 1972. The second was used by Bob Nevin to score the Los Angeles Kings 58th goal of the 1973-74 season, on Nov 28th 1973. The final puck was used by Gary Croteau to score the California Golden Seals 160th goal of the 1973-74 season, on March 2nd 1974.
The Nevin goal served as his 8th of the season, with the Habs losing the contest 5-3. The Habs logo has some crazing along with a bit of wear, with a stain on the puck just over the logo. The Goal Puck Program label is dark and stained, with a large gouge along an edge nearby. The Croteau goal served as the game-winner, and was his 13th of the season, with the Canadiens taking home the 4-3 victory. The Goal Puck Program label and Habs logo both have dark marks/discolouration, with a few small additional scrapes and marks to the puck. The Brown goal served as his 3rd of the season, with Montreal losing the match, 4-2. The Habs logo is somewhat dark with some crazing, while the Goal Puck Program label has a few dark stains along with paper loss, with light wear to the puck itself.
