Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2019
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/26/2019
Each puck originally distributed by Hockey Diversified for the 1972-74 NHL Goal Puck Program could be obtained by mail with the buyer's choice of team and possibly player. A label was affixed to each puck listing the scorer, team and date, along with a code that divulged which team-goal said puck accounted for. We have a trio of Montreal Canadiens pucks that all saw action at the Forum, with each used to score goals by Philadelphia Flyers’ players, including a pair in the playoffs. The first was used by Simon Nolet to score the Flyers 17th goal of the 1973 Stanley Cup playoffs, on April 14th 1973. The second was used by Ross Lonsberry to score the Flyers 35th goal of the 1973 Stanley Cup playoffs, on April 24th 1973. The final puck was also used by Lonsberry, this time to score the Flyers 192nd goal of the 1973-74 season, on Feb 17th 1974.
The Nolet goal puck originates from Game 1 of the semifinals, with Nolet scoring a pair in the contest, with the Flyers winning 5-4 in overtime. The Habs logo shows dark marks, with the Goal Puck Program label slightly discoloured, with just light wear to the puck itself. The Lonsberry goal scored on April 24th originates from Game 5 of the semifinals, with the Flyers winning the contest 5-3. Like the Nolet puck, the Habs logo shows dark marks, with the Goal Puck Program label slightly discoloured. There is also a large slice that runs across the Habs logo. Lastly, the Lonsberry goal scored on Feb 17th 1974 was his 22nd goal of the season and the game-tying marker, with the score ending 2-2. The Habs logo is somewhat dark with surface wear, with the Goal Puck Program label slightly discoloured with a few blemishes. The puck itself exhibits just light use.
