Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2019
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/26/2019
The image of Henry Louis Aaron in his early twenties graces his second and third-year Topps issues, with Hank's rookie statistics on the back of card #47 from 1955 indicating he smacked his first 13 Major League home runs in '54, while card #31 from 1956 informs that as a rookie in '54, he hit a homer in every National League park. And he kept hitting homers in every park across the land for the next two decades, to the tune of 755 career round-trippers. Both cards now reside in PSA holders which are labeled EX-MT 6. The '56 entry is a grey back version and that's actually a depiction of Willie Mays sliding-in to home plate on the front. The '55 issue reveals that Aaron jumped right from Class B ball into a full-time Braves outfield birth. Terrific opportunity to score two important early Aaron issues with one swoop here. A couple of light scuffs to the holder of the '55 card are to mention, above and parallel to the "Aaron" part of the facsimile signature.
