Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2019
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/26/2019
A couple of signatures from a famous former couple, Marilyn Monroe and Joe Dimaggio, are placed back-to-back in a one-of-one brainchild of the Leaf Company here, the 2014 issue featuring a light "Best Regards, Marilyn Monroe" cut on one side and a flowing bold blue ink "Joe Dimaggio" on the other, the latter cut from the back of a postcard. Encased by Beckett, the rarity lists their respective 1962 and 1999 years of death on the label. While you take a deep breath, we'll tell you about Joe D. starring in five other pieces. A 1948 R346 Blue Tint hand cut blank-back card is slabbed VG-EX 4 by PSA (Pop 5, 7 higher, 35 total submissions), while a 1943 M.P. & Co. R302-1 cartoon depiction is encased by SGC and labeled "A AUTH". Postcard-size entries total three, with a 1939-1946 Salutation Exhibit graded VG-EX 4 by PSA, the firm rating a 1936 National Chicle card Good 2. Good 2, or "30" is the SGC assessment of a 1936 Goudey Wide Pen card picturing Dimaggio and longtime Yankee manager Joe McCarthy. What an array of captivating material - imagine being the new owner!
