Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2019
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/26/2019
An impressive years-in-the-making ensemble offered here was surely a labor of love for our consignor who reports that the Montreal Canadiens portion of the 1945 to 1954 Quaker Oats issue is complete. That means all the variations and more difficult to locate examples are present, with three or four different of Richard, Durnan, Blake, Lach, Bouchard and others leading the lineup. Beliveau, Curry (still), Laycoe (portrait), McCormack (2 diff.), McMahon and Warwick also carry weight. The presentation is also admirable; the career NHL statistics of each subject appears on the opposite one-pocket page of a binder so that the beholder can check the player out and also glance at his career stats – nice. Also nice is the overall condition, appearing much better than most of the hoards we’ve handled. Only a half dozen show obvious creases/issues, with one them however the key (“young”) Maurice Richard picture that has numerous light creases but which still is a treat to behold given its scarceness. Terrific binder constitutes an instant extensive collection or fantastic dealer inventory.
Time does not permit us to pull out each photo to examine the back but we surmise very few unpleasant surprises await.
