Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2019
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/26/2019
Four early and intriguing issues are represented here, with four PSA-encapsulated cards put out by Dominion Chocolate a good place to start. From the company's first of two multi-sport card sets and among 31 hockey subjects is a card picturing the 1924 Allan Cup champion Soo Greyhounds, with Hockey Hall of Famer Bun Cook present. Graded VG 3, it is joined by a VG 3 with "MC" qualifier of the Owen Sound Juniors, while at VG 3 is #92-J. Hughes. Also contributing is 81-Bill Fraser at Good 2. Also slabbed by PSA at VG 3 (MC) is a 1924-25 Maple Crispette card of 26-Charlie Langlois. A raw Dominion Chocolate 59-Beattie Ramsay is Poor, with the other five revealing that our consignor had an admiration for goaltenders. The same image of Hamilton goalie Vernon Forbes appears on three different cards; 1923-24 William Patterson #29 (F), '24-25 Maple Crispette #25 (P) and Dominion Chocolate #82 (without tab and F). Meanwhile, Ernie Collett cards are Dominion Chocolate #55 (without tab and P) and 1924 Willard's Chocolates #45 (P).
