Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2019
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/26/2019
First icing a team in the old Canadian-American Hockey League in 1926, the Rhode Island Reds were a staple in the AHL until 1977, when the team was then relocated to Binghamton to become the Dusters. We have a game-used team-signed stick featuring the 1959-60 Reds, with 15 signatures. A Northland Pro model with a No. 6 lie and made for a right-hand shooter, manufacturing stamps appear over both sides, with mostly intact striping accents and black tape over the knob and toe section of the blade. All 15 have signed one side of the shaft in thick black marker including HOFer Ed Giacomin, along with Benny Woit, Dutch Riebel, Nick Mickoski, Larry Hillman, Terry Reardon, Ross Brooks, Bob Beckett, Don Bouchard, Ray Ross, Bruce Gohegan, Stan Baliuk and Floyd Hillman. The signatures all display well with just minimal bleeding, with just very light wear to the stick itself. We should also note that the stick was possibly signed later at a reunion, as Giacomin only played a single game for the Reds in 1959-60, with the majority of his season spent between the Clinton Comets and New York Rovers of the EHL. An LOA from JSA will accompany, with an index card with a list of the signers taped to the document by a previous owner.
