Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2019

Twice the NHL’s most valuable player, Bobby Hull won back-to-back Hart Trophies in 1965 and 1966, repeating the feat in the All-Star Game as MVP in both 1970 and 1971 – the only player in history to do so. We have a signed stick used by Hull in the mid-1960s, with this particular example gifted from the legendary Black Hawk directly to our consignor, Ken Daniels. A sportscaster with CBC from 1985 to 1997, Daniels is currently the play-by-play announcer for the Detroit Red Wings on Fox Sports Detroit. A Northland Custom Pro model, “Hull” appears stamped over the upper shaft beneath the handwritten “9”, with the original black tape in place over the blade and shaved handle. Bobby has signed the upper shaft in green ink, adding “Best Wishes”. A post-career stick used by Dennis Hull is included, with LOAs from Ken Daniels to accompany for both sticks.
The Bobby Hull stick sports stamps from supplier Gunzo’s over each side, with nice use exhibited, with wear to the underside of the blade and marks to the lower and upper shaft. There is also a small separation at the tip of the blade and a tiny age crack near the top of the toe section, with some loss to the signature from contact/rubbing. The Dennis Hull stick was used post-career, with “Hull” over the upper shaft of the Sher-Wood PMP 5030 model and “10” stamped below, with the original black tape over the handle and blade. Dennis has added a black marker signature to the lower portion of the shaft, and it displays well. Showing light use, there is some wear to the underside of the blade, with marks and red paint transfer over the shaft.
