Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2018

Winning his fourth of eight-consecutive Hart Memorial Trophies as the NHL’s premier and most valuable player in 1982-83 – a feat accomplished by no other – Wayne Gretzky would also secure his third-consecutive Art Ross Trophy after annihilating all competition, outscoring second place Peter Stastny by over 70 points! We have a signed stick used by The Great One during the 1982-83 NHL season, with this example hailing from the incomparable collection of Shawn Chaulk. A Titan TPM2020 model in familiar white with red identifiers, “W. Gretzky” has been stamped over the upper shaft, with a date code along the underside of “Sep 3 1982”. Sporting the original now-soiled white tape on the handle with “99” handwritten below, the black tape over the blade also remains intact. A signed LOA from Shawn Chaulk will accompany.
Wayne has signed the front side of the shaft just above the heel section in black ink, and the signature is absolutely flawless. Good thorough use is exhibited on the highly desirable stick, with wear to the taped section of blade including the underside, with a few splits to the tape over the reverse. Dark marks are also visible over the shaft including the lower portion, with a few spots of both blue and red paint transfer visible over the lower shaft. There are also a few very fine lines over the underside of the shaft that may be stress lines or the beginnings of fine age cracks, with these doing absolutely nothing to undermine the sticks integrity of display value whatsoever, mentioned only for the strictest accuracy. It should also be noted that the date stamp might possibly state “13” instead of “3”, with the “1” appearing to be there but very light.
