Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2018
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/6/2018
With games played in both the United States and Canada, the 1976 Canada Cup featured 6 nations, with the tournament the first to feature the absolute best players each hockey nation had to offer. Led by tournament MVP Bobby Orr, the Canadians defeated Czechoslovakia in the best-of-three final, with Russian Viktor Zhluktov leading in scoring. We have a stick that was issued to HOFer Lanny McDonald for the tournament, and it’s been team-signed by the Canadian squad. A CCM model with “Canada Cup 76” graphics, “L McDonald” appears stamped over the upper shaft, with the stick in gorgeous condition never seeing use. Signed twice by McDonald with a lengthy personalization, signers include Lafleur, Orr, Savard, Dionne, P. Esposito, Vachon, Perreault and many more.
Each ballpoint signature has been placed across the front side of the shaft, with the majority somewhat lighter then when first penned. Additional signers include Martin, Clark, Potvin, Hull, P. Mahovlich, Maloney (training camp only), Barber, Robinson, Gainey, Cheevers and others.
