Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2018
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/6/2018
We have a Detroit Red Wings jersey worn by Cleary in 2009-10, where he appeared in 64 games. A CCM label sits affixed to the collar with “56” sizing, with NHL and Reebok crests over the front and back necklines respectively. Styled with Detroit’s famous winged-wheel team crest, the white mesh V-neck has been accented with tackle twill sleeve and verso numbers, with “Cleary” placed over the upper reverse in individual letters. Seeing a ton of action, a few marks are visible over the front and right shoulder, with some minor paint transfer is spots. There are also dozens of team repairs, with the majority situated over the lower sleeves. The “1st Set” team patch sits above the inside hem, with a COA from the Red Wings to accompany.
The first player from Newfoundland to have his name engraved on Lord Stanley’s hardware, Dan Cleary spent 10 seasons in the Motor City, with the Carbonear native’s biggest claim to fame scoring the series-winning goal in the Western Conference semi-finals against Anaheim in 2009.
