Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2018
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/6/2018
While we’re not sure of the origin of this particular female golf championship silver medal, we can attest to its attractive appearance and time-honoured craftsmanship. At roughly 1 ½” square, the medal features detailed maple leaves along the top corners and bottom center, with “Championship”, “OTC” and “1925” engraved within the center. The reverse feature’s additional engravings, with “Ladies Open Championship” along with the recipient, “Marjorie McGillivray”, with a Sterling stamp along with a hallmark and “925”. The medal shows wear expected after nearly a century of life, with some minor scratches present along with a nice patina. We should also note that the chain attached may not be original and doesn’t appear to be silver, as no hallmarks are present.
