Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2018
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/6/2018
On the threshold of an unprecedented five consecutive Stanley Cup championships, the 1954-55 Montreal Canadiens finished 2nd during the regular season, with the playoffs most notable for the suspension of Maurice Richard and the ensuing riot it caused. We have a small card multi-signed by the notable squad along with an 8” x 10” team photo, with these accompanied by a 1948-49 Montreal Canadiens team photo postcard that has been signed by HOFer Bill Durnan. At 3 ½” x 4 ½”, the Autograph Collectors Society card feature’s 7 signatures over the blank reverse in mixed inks, with “The Montreal Canadiens Ice Hockey Team” handwritten above, with HOFers Beliveau, Richard, Bouchard, Harvey and Frank Selke all signing. The 1948-49 postcard feature’s a black and white image, with the players listed over the reverse in ink. Durnan has signed along one side in pencil, and the signature displays well.
The non-HOFers who have signed are Floyd Curry and Ken Mosdell. With just a single crease over the upper right corner to note that doesn't infringe upon any of the signatures (it JUST touches the top of Richard’s “D”), the signed card and autographs remain in beautiful condition, with just moderate wear to the Habs team picture. A “Dwight E. Dolan” stamp appears over the reverse, with a few creases over the lower left corner. The postcard exhibits surface wear and residue, with a large crease over the left side. The reverse has remnants of a former affixed paper, with the Durnan signature placed over top.
