Rarely seen in quantity and ideal for display due to their oversized dimensions, we have a large collection of signed newspaper/magazine pictures totaling over 80, with a number of HOFers present and accounted for. Highlighted by five signed Bobby Orr pieces including 2 Sports Illustrated covers and a copy of Macleans from 1965 picturing the 16-year old with Oshawa, there are also a pair of complete Weekend Picture Magazines, with the covers signed including one by Jean Beliveau, the other Gordie Howe and Gump Worsley. This is followed by 9 signed Weekend Magazine player pictures from the late-1950s/early-1960s including Howe, Beliveau, Bucyk and Ullman, 16 signed 1965-66 Star Weekly pictures including Baun, Pilote and Frank Mahovlich, 6 assorted signed Rocket Richard pictures and a number of random examples including Tretiak, Beliveau, Howe, Hull, Stanley and others. All five Orr signed pieces will come with Basic Certs from JSA.
Other signers present in the collection – some in multiples - include Perreault, McDonald, Hall, Dionne, Potvin, Parent, T. Esposito, Lafleur, Johnson, Roy, Shutt, Cournoyer, H. Richard, Shack, Mark Howe and others. Additional highlights in the collection include a full copy of The Hockey News from Oct 27th 1978 picturing Wayne Gretzky on the cover in his Indianapolis Racers jersey, a fold-over pair of large Tiny Thompson and Eddie Shore pictures from the Feb 5th 1939 “Saturday News”, and 5 Bobby Orr Sports Illustrated covers. There are also a number of additional unsigned pictures, with the majority of the signatures in the collection exhibiting no issues, with expected moderate to heavier wear to the pictures themselves.
