Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2018
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/6/2018
Only the third hockey player to appear on the cover of Time magazine, Bobby Hull retired as the second leading career goal scorer in NHL history, while his 28 career hat tricks put him sixth on the all-time list. Hailing from his historic final hat trick on Wednesday Dec 9th 1971 against the Golden Seals, we have a puck from the famous event, and it originates from Hull’s personal collection. An eventual 4-1 win on the road, all three markers were plotted on Gilles Meloche, with the puck finished with a gilt coating along with a small metal plaque that has been reglued, listing the particulars. Also included, we have a 1958-62 Art Ross Chicago Black Hawks replica puck, with The Golden Jet adding a beautiful silver paint pen signature.
The hat trick puck exhibits scratches to the gilded surface along with a prominent dent, with heavier wear to the affixed metal plaque, especially at the center. The signed replica puck exhibits just light wear, with no issues for the signature or screened-on logos. Also included, we have an 8” x 4 ½” x 1 ½” finished wooden display case with mirrored bottom and removable glass top, with a decal across the front that reads “Bobby Hull Career 28th Hat Trick”.
