Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2018

It was and odd number, 61 (cards) in 1960-61 as the Red Wings returned to the Parkhurst lineup, joining perennial subjects Montreal and Toronto, with crease-free EX-or-better cards abounding here and accounting for three-quarters of the set. White borders are an attribute and we count 45 cards which fall into the EX, EX+ and EX-MT grades. The Jean Beliveau card is a NM standout, with 20-Howe and 31-Sawchuk coming in at EX. The Maurice Richard example appears similar but a small subtle light crease renders it VG+. Other notables include 53-Jacques Plante (and three commons) at VG-EX, while the first card, that of Tim Horton is VG+. A couple of VGs include the last card, 61-Morrison, while two side-to-side creases send 48-Harvey to G. With a pinhole near the middle top and the middle bottom are cards of 2-Mahovlich, 12-Duff and 16-Stanley, with light back damage from scrapbook removal affecting sharp cards of 35-Lunde and 37-McKenzie RC. From the season that saw the Black Hawks end the Canadiens' record reign as Stanley Cup champions.
