Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2018
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/6/2018
Splendid premiums from Bee Hive Corn Syrup are offered here, with four team shields, the likes of which were first offered back in the Group 1 era (1934-43), featuring the logos of the Black Hawks, Red Wings, Rangers and Bruins. We listed the teams in order of condition, with the latter three all exhibiting tiny holes around the edges from having once been sewn-on, with Detroit displaying the best and fraying affecting the Boston example a little more than that of New York. Chicago is free of stitching, with a few small dark spots/blemishes in the white background. Meanwhile, a large team photo of the Stanley Cup champion 1944-45 Toronto Maple Leafs is also present and reportedly introduced the Group 2 Bee Hive hockey photos. The blue backing measures 9" by 12-3/4" and exhibits creasing, with the names of several Leaf players written on the back. A few light creases are to report in the picture itself but they'll be overlooked when admiring the killer images of big Babe Pratt, young Ted Kennedy, goalie Frank McCool, coach Hap Day and others. Toronto edged Detroit in seven games in the Cup finals.
