Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction June 2018
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/19/2018
Serving the community of Providence Rhode Island with exciting AHL hockey for half a century, the Providence Reds began play in the old CAHL in 1926, later winning Calder Cups in 1938, 1940, 1949, and 1956. We have a Reds jersey that was worn by Pierre Gagne in the late-1960s, circa 1967-69. A mainly detached Gerry Cosby label sits over the inside hem, with a size “48” swatch placed adjacently by the MSG supplier. Featuring “Reds” across the chest in slanted individual single white twill letters, “18” appears over the sleeves and verso in matching material. Utilizing reinforced armpits along with a reinforced upper chest/collar, the vintage garment also feature’s six eyelet configuration on tie-neck construction, with the original tie string intact.
Hammered with use, a number of holes are present throughout along with stains, large pulls and paint transfer, with the reverse numbers loose in a few spots. There are also team repairs over the each sleeve and the lower front, with a larger example over the reverse beneath the right shoulder.
