Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction June 2018
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/19/2018
A respected member of the famous Team Canada squad that took on the Soviets at the legendary Summit Series in 1972, Red Berenson first experienced international hockey while helping the Belleville McFarlands secure the World Championship in 1959 while still a teenager. Hailing from Red’s personal collection, we have Team Canada jerseys individually signed by both Paul Henderson and Phil Esposito, along with a limited-edition 2002 Douglas Laird lithograph entitled “Remember The Goal”. Each signed Team Canada jersey has tagging from Dream Weaver (Espo-L/Henderson-XL), with tackle twill letters and numbers. As an added bonus, there are also three unsigned Team Canada jerseys (2-XL/1-L) included, with COAs for each of the signed examples along with a signed LOA from Red Berenson to accompany.
The signed jerseys have each been autographed within the reverse numbers in black marker, with no issues for the signatures. The roughly 21 ¾” x 30” lithograph feature’s a charming image of children re-creating “the goal”, hand-numbered along the bottom left “366/500 CE” (celebrities edition), with the artist signing in pencil along the bottom right. With wear along the bottom border and a few surface indentations, the litho remains in very good condition.
