Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction June 2018
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/19/2018
Canada’s team of the 20th century, the Summit Series squad that represented the mighty maple leaf in 1972 will forever be recognized for their achievement, with each participant an immortal hockey legend. We have home and away Team Canada jerseys – including a team-signed example – along with a “Relive the Dream” jacket hailing from the personal collection of former NHL star and coaching icon Red Berenson. All most likely originating from the 1987 “Relive the Dream” fifteenth anniversary, the signed jersey feature’s 19 black marker signatures over the reverse including Berenson, Cournoyer, Johnston, Park, Gilbert and others. The jacket is a white windbreaker with size “L” labeling by Avon, with an embroidered design over the left breast incorporating crossed hockey sticks with flags and “Relive the Dream”. A signed LOA from Red Berenson will accompany.
Both jerseys feature Athletic Knit labeling, with each measuring-out to roughly size 54. With tackle twill identifiers, 19 have signed the solid white away example over the reverse, including Awrey, Ellis, Guevremont, Hull, Lapointe, Martin, Parise, Savard, Seiling, Stapleton, Tallon, Ferguson and the Mahovlich brothers. The signatures display well, with some staining present, along with some of the garment’s red colour bleeding onto the upper left sleeve. The jacket exhibits light wear, with some toning to the white material.
