Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2018
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/6/2018
The only man capable of competing with a rookie Wayne Gretzky, Marcel Dionne would actually score more goals in 1979-80 than The Great One, with both legends securing an amazing 137 points during the regular season. Originating from the 1985-86 season, his second last in Los Angeles and a campaign that witnessed 94-points scored as a 34-year old, we have a signed Kings alternate captain’s jersey worn by the Drummondville native. Originating from the collection of longtime Kings’ head athletic trainer Pete Demers, a Maska Ultrafil label sits affixed to the collar along with an “85 10” born-on date tag, with the jersey measuring-out to roughly a size 50. Styled with an intricately detailed Kings' team crest, the vintage V-neck has been embellished with dual-colour tackle twill sleeve and verso numbers, with a CCM patch with asterisk in Kings' colours over the reverse bottom hem. A signed LOA from Pete Demers will accompany.
A few dark marks are visible over the lower front band, with faint burns over each sleeve along with a few small resulting holes near the right elbow. There is also a team repair over the lower left sleeve, with minor pilling over the interior of the lower reverse. Dionne has signed the reverse “1” in silver adding his HOF year, with the signature displaying well despite blending into the background material somewhat. It should also be noted that while most jerseys worn by the Kings in 1985-86 had an Adidas logo over the hem, it has been documented that Dionne wore multiple jerseys including examples without the Adidas logo.
