The newest member of the NHL’s exclusive 600-goal club, Washington Capitals superstar Alexander Ovechkin wore these CCM gloves during the 2011 NHL Winter Classic. They have been photo-matched to the “Turn Back the Clock Night” game against Montreal on February 1, and the Capitals-MeiGray LOA that accompanies these colorful red, white and blue gauntlets with Cyrillic identifiers and “GR8” embroidered on the cuffs states that they were worn in both games, first during the showcase outdoor game, a 3-1 Caps win in front of a crowd of 68,111 at Pittsburgh’s Heinz Field on New Year’s Day. Ovi signed in blue marker on the white cuff roll on the front of the right glove.
The right glove is photo-matched by Getty Images #108941581 (Feb. 1, 2011) to the black marks above and below Ovechkin's signature, and by Getty Images #108941605 (Feb. 1, 2011) to the hole in the red fabric on the front of the upper index finger.
The left glove is photo-matched by Getty Images #109046367 (Feb. 1, 2011) to the black marks on the lower portion of the white cuff roll near the outside edge of the glove.
The gloves display Russian flag patches on the inner cuff and graphics with the first and last name of Ovechkin’s grandfather on the cuffs. More game use shows in nice wear to the palms, with red paint transfer bled on the left palm, holes worn through the fabric on the fingers of the left glove, and black marks high on the thumb and above it on the red fabric of the cuff of the right glove.
