This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/19/2018
The closing of the most storied and famous hockey rink in the world took place in 1996, with the venerated Montreal Canadiens playing their final games at the iconic Montreal Forum during the 1995-96 NHL season. We have a number of items celebrating the Habs final hurrah at the Forum. Included, we have 41 programs from the very last Forum game played on March 11th 1996 (three are signed by Frank Mahovlich), along with an inaugural program for the first game at the Molson Centre on March 16th. We also have line-up pages for Oct 21st 1995 (unnumbered), Oct 28th 1995 (23), Dec 2nd 1995 (2), Dec 9th 1995 (9) and Jan 28th 1996 (10). Next, there are 56 stubs for the final season along with an additional 35 regular and pre-season photo ticket stubs for 1995-96 including an example for Patrick Roy’s last Habs game, this is followed by 15 1995-96 5” x 7 ½” team photos and over 30 1995-96 February schedule pamphlets. There are also over 125 ticket stubs from the late-1980s, with the majority for the Montreal Forum, 50 Habs season-schedules mixed from 1987-88 to 1995-96, 12 1986 Stanley Cup champions playoff ticket stubs, 3 1987 playoff ticket stubs, 20 1988 playoff ticket stubs and 13 signed 1989-90 Journal de Montreal Kraft postcards including Courtnall, Walter, Richer, Keane, Ludwig, McPhee and others, along with small additional advertising pieces/photos signed by Cournoyer, Shutt, Muller and Gilbert Dionne. The majority of the items exhibit light to moderate wear commensurate with their former use, with most of the final Forum game programs in beautiful condition.
