Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction June 2018
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/19/2018
With an utterly amazing 10 Stanley Cups won as a player, Yvan Cournoyer spent parts of 16 seasons representing the Bleu Blanc Rouge, trailing only Guy Lafleur, Maurice Richard, and Jean Beliveau on the Canadiens' all-time scoring list upon his retirement. We have a stick used by The Roadrunner during the 1967-68 season. A CCM Pattern Made Custom Pro model, “Cournoyer” and “12” are stamped on, with a stamp from supplier McNiece’s over the top side of the shaft. The original black tape remains in place over the handle and knob, with tape added to the blade more recently, most likely to rectify the broken blade. A small label has also been glued to the upper shaft, with typed text that reads “Ives Cournoyer Montreal Canadiens 1967-68”.
As mentioned, the blade has been broken, with cracks that run from the heel to the toe section, with glue added along the heel joint. Despite these flaws, the stick remains solid and displays well.
