Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction February 2018
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/27/2018
Led by captain and later coach Toe Blake, the Montreal Canadiens finished first overall at the conclusion of the 1943-44 NHL season, losing only 5 games. The Habs then skated past the Maple Leafs and Black Hawks with only a single post-season loss to claim their 5th franchise Stanley Cup championship. We have a panoramic team photo of that memorable squad. At 8” x 19” (visible), the full team is pictured in uniform posed at ice level with the player’s names all handwritten along the top, with the photographer Marsan listed within the bottom right. Featuring HOFers Blake, Durnan, Lach, Bouchard, O’Connor and a young Maurice Richard, the photo displays well with some minor wrinkling and creasing, with moderate wear to the original wood frame.
