Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction February 2018

Drafted by the Atlanta Flames in 1979, Jim Peplinski spent his entire career with the Flames, both as an inaugural-season member in Calgary in 1980 as well as a Stanley Cup champion with the club in 1989. We have a signed Flames captain’s jersey worn by the Renfrew native in 1984-85, a season that witnessed 45 points in 80 games played. A partially detached CCM label sits along the collar with an “84 07” born-on date tag, with an embroidered CCM* crest over the reverse bottom hem. Styled with the familiar Flames team crest administered in layered tackle twill, the mesh-style V-neck has been accented with dual-colour sleeve and verso numbers in matching material, with a loop-style fight strap utilized. Jim has signed within the top of the reverse “2” in black marker adding “My 1985-86 Game Jersey”.
We should note that this jersey is from the second set of 1984-85 jerseys which were also worn in the 1985-86 pre-season (pre-season only). The captain's "C" was most likely added at this point as it isn't showing the same amount of wear compared to the rest of the jersey. It should be further noted that the 1984-85 Flames jerseys are known for the nameplate color not quite matching up with the jersey, with the white of the nameplate somewhat brighter compared to the white of the jersey - such is the case with this example.
