Remarkable pair of frames from the late Ed Chynoweth’s personal collection features a huge world junior championships commemorative frame with individual IIHF gold, silver and bronze medals displayed hanging below a Team Canada jersey. This circa 1996 frame, which measures 33” x 29”, was presented to Chynoweth, who served as the president of the WHL from 1972-95 and president of the CHL from 1975-95. The WHL renamed its championship trophy the Ed Chynoweth Cup in his honour after he passed away from cancer in 2008. Also included is a “Team Canada Gold” framed dressing room photo presented to Chynoweth, was posthumously elected to the Hockey Hall of Fame as a builder late in 2008.
The circa 1996 World Junior Championship Team Canada commemorative frame with IIHF world junior championship gold, silver and bronze medals measures 33 1/4" x 29”. The heavy frame has marks on the front of the upper left side that run down about two inches from the upper joint that do not diminish its display.
The “Team Canada Gold” frame, which measures 21 1/2" x 27”, has a plaque at the bottom that reads, “Ed Chynoweth, In recognition of your vision and leadership which has created many Golden memories for Canada through the Program of Excellence”.
