Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2017
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/7/2017
This silver-plated dinner tray was presented by Hockey Night in Canada to Hall of Fame forward Andy Bathgate on the occasion of the original Winnipeg Jets' first national NHL broadcast in 1979. Dubbed "Tuxedo Night" because Jets executives and even the Zamboni driver were dressed to the nines, the December 15 game saw the Jets pull out all the stops as they hosted the reigning Stanley Cup champion Montreal Canadiens. Andy's name is engraved on this nicely detailed commemorative tray, presented to Winnipeg's own HOFer as a token of gratitude on the occasion of HNIC's first NHL broadcast from the old Winnipeg Arena. Tray measures 12 3/8" in diameter and stands 1 1/4" on the side. Originally from Andy Bathgate's personal collection. “Presented to A. Bathgate, Member of Hockey Hall of Fame, Honored at Winnipeg Arena by Hockey Night in Canada, Montreal Canadiens vs Winnipeg Jets, December 15th 1979” is engraved in the middle of the silver-plated tray.
