Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2017
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/7/2017
A member of the school hockey team, Robert Johnson excelled at both academics and sport during his formative years at Central High in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Offered are four of Bob's wine-colored Chenille varsity letters, presented for his participation on the hockey squad. A varsity letter (or monogram) is an award earned in the United States for excellence in school activities and signifies that its winner was a qualified varsity team member, awarded after a certain standard was met. Bob saved and cherished his school letters and each is proudly mounted onto a larger sheet of thick creamy paper stock. And amazingly, Bob made his mark across each display at the bottom. Three of the special signatures are written as "Bob Johnson" while a the fourth is signed "Robert Johnson". Historic autographs and varsity letters, perfect for framing! Obtained in an estate sale of personal items that had been saved by Bob Johnson and will come with a letter of provenance.
