Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2017
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/7/2017
From the days when a hockey stick was a prized possession are these four (4) vintage sticks. The longest stick of the foursome is a one-piece wood beauty, which measures 64” from the tip of the blade to the top of the shaft, with most of its 14-inch original “E.B. Salyerds Avoca, N.Y.” paper label remaining on three sides. The bottom portion of the label on the back side of the upper shaft is missing, otherwise the rest of the label remains with taglines such as “Our Sticks Are Favorites”, “This Stick Stands for Quality, Shape and Finish.“, and “is designed for Players who will appreciate the highest grade of perfection.” Vintage black hockey tape jobs remain on the knob and blade of a second stick that measures about 56” with remnants of its “E.B. Salyerds” paper label partially remaining on all four sides of the shaft, which has “Edward A. Mundy” carved into one side, and “Edward A. M.” etched and burned onto the other side. The third wood stick has a good amount of its “Flash” 15-inch paper label on the shaft, which has a “Left” stamp on the front of the bare butt end. The stick measures 57” with vintage black tape jobs on its heel and on the toe of the blade. Also included is a 55-inch one-piece wood stick with “M” carved into the front heel with a small remnant of a red, white and blue paper label on the front of the upper shaft. We should also note that all four sticks originate from roughly the mid-1920s to mid-1930s.
