This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/7/2017
Running throughout most of the 1960s and 1970s, soft drink kings Coca-Cola issued a number of hockey promotions, including caps, cards, booklets, posters and much more. We have a “master” collection of Coke items running the gamut, including items from the 1964-65 caps promotion, the 1965-66 card promotion, the 1966-67 booklet offer, the 1970-71 posters promotion and the 1977-78 card offer. There is also a 1974 Coke sports training film, a 1970s Boston Bruins picture pack and a full Nesbitt’s soda bottle from 1972-73 with Jean Beliveau game cap. Please refer to our website for the complete list of items in this large Coke “master” collection along with conditions.
Included in this huge Coke premium lot from the 1960s is a 1964-65 Coca-Cola Complete-108 Hockey Cap Set with display rink in original box + small ad, 1964-65 Coca-Cola hockey caps magazine ads (one signed by Frank Mahovlich) + small contest ad, 1964-65 Coca-Cola hockey caps collection in binder including complete 108-cap set + 25 extras, circa 1964-65 Coca-Cola bottle with hockey cap (Hicke), 1965-66 Coca-Cola hockey cards with Red Wings, Canadiens and Rangers undetached team sets + loose cards of Beliveau and JC Tremblay, 1965-66 Coca-Cola hockey cards mailing envelopes (3), album in original envelope, magazine ad, 2 coupons for redemption and caps with team names printed on the cork liners, 1966-67 Coca-Cola complete French booklets set and near complete English set (3/4) with extra Richard booklet, a 1966-67 Coca-Cola booklets magazine ad signed by Henri Richard, 5 mailing envelopes, 4 order forms (only only has half) and 6 original caps with player's names printed on cork liners (set of 4 + 2 extras). From the 1970s we have a 1970-71 Coca-Cola hockey star posters original carrying case with posters ad, 1970-71 Coca-Cola hockey star posters bottle cap, redemption offer and posters (3 rough shape), a 1970-71 Coca-Cola hockey star posters store banner/poster, 1977-78 Coca-Cola Superstars complete set of 30 cards on sheet mostly attached + 7 extra cards inc. NM-MT 8 PSA-Graded Robinson, a 1974 Coca-Cola sports training film; The Power Play color in original box/carrying case and 1970s Boston Bruins picture pack with 4 pics and original envelope.
The 1970-71 posters are rough with heavy wear and toning/staining, while the 1970-71 store display poster has light wear and remains unused, with the glue attachments on the reverse intact and unused. The 14” x 23” 1964-65 display rink has a few cracks and marks, with the majority of the caps showing moderate to heavy wear to the surfaces, with the additional 133 caps (in binder – with a complete set of 108 plus 25 extras) displaying well, with varying degrees of wear. The 1965-66 cards (Red Wings, Canadiens and Rangers undetached team sets) all remain in mid-grade with just the odd dinged corner and toning, with the loose additional cards of Beliveau and JC Tremblay in low grade. The French and English booklets all exhibit light wear, while the original 1970-71 Coke carrying case that pictures the poster promotion has great colours with expected wear including a few large creases. The 1977-78 complete set of 30 cards displays well with little wear, with some cards almost detached along perforations, while the album to house the cards shows very light wear with brilliant colours.
We should also note that we are unable to ship any “food” products outside of Canada, so the Beliveau-capped Nesbitt soda bottle along with the unopened Coke example (Hicke cap) would have to be opened and emptied to ship outside of Canada. We should also mention that the possibility exists that the Nesbitt bottle was filled and re-capped at a later period, as a large find of the Beliveau bottle caps have previously surfaced.
