Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2017
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/7/2017
The Detroit Red Wings won three Stanley Cups on Steve Yzerman's watch. After recording his sixth straight 100-point campaign in 1992-93, the long-time Red Wings captain evolved into an outstanding two-way player as he led Detroit to back-to-back Cup wins in 1997 and 1998 and yet another in 2002. These red and white Easton gauntlets from the latter stages of Yzerman's Hall of Fame career have light wear on the palms and exhibit nice game use in the form of marks and scuffs, with the right glove photo-matched. Yzerman's revered number "19" is written in black marker on the back of the cuffs. An extremely faded Hockeytown Authentics price tag sticker remains on the left thumb. Great game-worn gloves that protected a pair of hockey's most gifted hands.
Getty Image #621163 from Feb 5th 2001 has been matched to the two sets of black marks on the white cuff of the right glove. We should also note that the same photo-match images from the Feb 5th contest show Yzerman wearing a different left glove, with this pair possibly worn together at a later point as they show similar wear, but no photographic evidence could be found to verify.
