Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction June 2017
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/21/2017
Great gathering of 14 vintage player presentation pennants, gifts exchanged at center ice prior to international games and tournaments. This collection, awarded to and saved by famed Team USA coach Bob Johnson, includes banners dating back to 1967. The highlights here include a beautiful gold-fringed 14" affair gifted by Team Sweden at the 1981 Worlds and another intricately-embroidered 15" example from the German National Team given at the same event. A silky double-sided German-made pennant boasts the design of the 1967 World Championships. Four more tiny pennants are here, hailing from Czech tournaments and teams of the Seventies. We count five additional pennant including one from Dukla, another with a Finnish design, one from 1981 Team Holland and a satin example from Team Romania. Finally, we have two 12" banners from Moscow Dynamo with attached team pins. Obtained in an estate sale of personal items that had been saved by Bob Johnson and will come with a letter of provenance.
