Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction June 2017
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/21/2017
Vintage and wonderful red melton wool coat worn by coach Bob Johnson as a member of the US National Hockey Team that took part in the 1976 Olympic Winter Games held in Innsbruck, Austria. Team USA, with a record of 2 wins and 3 losses, would finish fifth at the event. Johnson is pictured in the official team photograph wearing this exact red jacket and he would no doubt wear it in later years as he was a fixture with the United States Hockey Program. The jacket, in red wool with red/white/blue trim at the collar, cuffs and waistband, is tagged in the pocket by "Fitzgerland Athletics of St. Cloud, MINN" and features a size 44 fly tag. Best is the three-color tackle twill identifier at the left breast with a cascading "USA" crossing a hockey stick design.
Classic seventies styling with this fuzzy brushed melton material. Preserved in excellent and wearable condition. Obtained in an estate sale of personal items that had been saved by Bob Johnson and will come with a letter of provenance.
