Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction June 2017

Completely dominant setting the still-standing record of 19 consecutive playoff series wins culminating in the 1984 finals, the New York Islanders were seen as unbeatable, and despite facing a youthful juggernaut in the form of the Edmonton Oilers, the Islanders were still favourites as the 1984 Stanley Cup final began. A 2-3-2 series, Game 1 took place at Nassau Coliseum, and it’s especially remembered for the epic performance of 21 year old netminder Grant Fuhr, suppressing all the fire power the Isles could muster for the shutout, with Kevin McClelland netting the only marker which proved to be the game winner. That first contest would set New York back on their heels somewhat, with the boys from Alberta on their way to the first Stanley Cup championship in Oilers franchise history.
Presented, we have the very jersey superstar Grant Fuhr wore in Game 1 while stifling the Islanders, and excitingly, it’s been both photo and video matched! Worn in the regular season, playoffs and Stanley Cup finals, Nike size tagging remains affixed to the collar, with an additional Nike swoosh logo screened onto the back bottom hem. Styled with the classic oil drop team crest featuring embroidered detailing, the V-neck mesh has been accented with tri-colour sleeve and verso numbers, with shortened customized sleeves that include added elasticized cuffs. Exhibiting pilling, puckering to the team crest/numbers along with a large repair beneath the crest, the historic sweater will be accompanied by a team LOA, MeiGray COR and additional LOA.
Photo-matched to a dozen included numeric images of Fuhr during the season and playoffs, the jersey is also video-matched to Game One and Two from videos on YouTube.
