Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction June 2017
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/21/2017
Representing one of the most iconic images ever produced in the sport of hockey, we have a gorgeous and thought provoking original painting on canvas of the famous 1970 Stanley Cup winning goal, with Bobby Orr pictured in mid air after being tripped up just after scoring. Executed by noteworthy artist and charitable organization supporter Murray Henderson - whose works are accounted for in a number of private and corporate collections throughout Canada, the US and Europe, the 28” x 55” work expertly portrays Orr, along with assailant Noel Picard, with the colourful background Henderson is known for. Textured with heavy brushstrokes and wonderful overlapping, the artist has added a large signature along the top right, with the canvas and frame exhibiting no issues.
