Seeing action in 5 All-Star Games between 1969 and 1974, Dennis Hull spent the majority of his career with Chicago, also suiting up for Canada during the Summit Series where he averaged a point-a-game through his 4 played. This Black Hawks jersey was worn by Hull during the 1974 NHL playoffs and then during the 1974-75 regular season before being shipped to Portland for recycled use. A Wilson label sits affixed to the collar, with a tag from supplier Gunzo’s directly beneath. Styled with a gorgeous multi-coloured Indian head team crest with chain-stitched details, the V-neck durene has been accented with dual-colour sleeve and verso numbers, with matching chain-stitched tomahawk patches over each shoulder. A garter-style fight strap has also been utilized, with a “74 PO” swatch added to the inside hem to divulge 1974 playoff use. There is also evidence of a former nameplate, with nameplates mandated for television use and later removed.
We should first note regarding condition that although wear has accumulated through recycled use, the jersey remains original with no alterations to the numbers or team crests. A few large stick marks are visible on the lower front, with additional marks over each sleeve. There is also some puckering to the reverse numbers, along with some light pilling, with some rust residue on the fight strap clasp. A dozen team repairs are also present, with 3 each over the front and back, along with 4 on the right sleeve, 2 on the left.
