Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2017

The Habs wore these red gamers when HNIC celebrated its milestone during its October 6, 2001 broadcast of the Montreal vs Toronto game in Montreal. These game-worn jerseys were retained afterwards by the CBC, which subsequently added the "HNIC" patch sewn on the left breast, with this particular example worn by Oleg Petrov signed. A label is affixed to the collar along with a size “54” fly tag, with KOHO and NHL crests on the back neckline and bottom hem respectively. Styled with the classic “CH” team crest that’s been partially embroidered, the solid red V-neck has been accented with dual-colour tackle twill sleeve and verso numbers, with the HNIC 50th anniversary patch just beneath the left shoulder. Petrov has signed just above the team crest adding his number, and the signature displays well.
Game-wear includes a few faint marks on the lower front, along with additional examples over the right sleeve. There are also burns over the right elbow along with a small hole on the upper left sleeve.
This gamer was worn in all games, pre-season included, leading up to and including the 2-2 game on October 6, 2001 against Toronto. The CBC has given away over two dozen of these Hockey Night in Canada 50th anniversary jerseys to nationally-sponsored charity events for fundraiser raffles or silent auctions.
