Joining the National League with the New York Mets in 1962, the Houston Astros began life as the Houston Colt .45s, rechristened the Astros three seasons later when the club moved into the world's first domed sports stadium. With just a single NL pennant won in 2005, the club has played in the American League since 2013. We have a great group of game-worn items from the Astros totaling 11, spanning from roughly the 1960s to 2004. We have jerseys worn by Mark Portugal in 1993 and Derek Bell in 1996, along with a batting helmet donned by Billy Doran in 1987. Next, we have uniform pants worn by Javier Ortiz (recycled) and Curt Schilling in 1991 (possibly recycled), Shane Reynolds in 1997 and Carlos Beltran in 2004, along with a pair from the 1960s and a pair from 1970. Lastly, we have a pair of team jackets, with an example worn by Dave Meads in 1987, along with a jacket worn by Shane Reynolds in 1999. 1) Mark Portugal’s 1993 Houston Astros game-worn home jersey. A Label from Russell along with sizing sit on the lower front left tail, with “Astros” across the chest in textured twill. “51” appears on verso in matching material, with “Portugal” across the nameplate. In beautiful condition, there is an ink spot on the right sleeve. 2) Derek Bell’s 1996 Houston Astros game-worn road jersey. A Label from Russell along with sizing sit on the lower front left tail, with additional extra body and sleeve length tags. “Houston” appears across the chest in attractive script, with the club’s 35th anniversary patch over the left sleeve. With no unsightly wear or marks, the garment remains in beautiful condition. 3) Billy Doran’s 1987 Houston Astros game-worn batting helmet. An ABC model with sizing and interior padding intact, an Astros decal sits over the front, with “19” on the reverse. The helmet exhibits heavy wear, with a ton of marks, scratches and abrasions present. 4) Dave Meads’ 1987 Houston Astros team jacket. Tagging from WA Goodman & Sons sits along the collar, with “53” handwritten along with “Meads”. “Astros” appears across the chest in tackle twill, with multi-coloured cuffs, collar and lower band. 5) Shane Reynolds’ 1999 Houston Astros team jacket. A label from Majestic sits along the collar with handwritten “37”, with “Astros” across the chest in dual-layer tackle twill. With no issues to note, the jacket remains in gorgeous condition. 6) 1960s Colt 45’s game-worn uniform pants. A Rawlings label with sizing sits along the waistband, with nice use exhibited including holes over each knee. 7-10) Remaining four pair of Houston Astros uniform pants. Each example has proper tagging along the waistband present, with good use showing, with either stains or team repairs, with a couple examples exhibiting both. An LOA will accompany for the Reynolds jacket.
