Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2017

A Stanley Cup winner with New York in 1994, superstar Alexei Kovalev would see 18 seasons of NHL action, shared amongst the Rangers, Pittsburgh, Florida, Ottawa and Montreal. This Canadiens alternate captain’s jersey was worn by the Russian in the 2007-08 Stanley Cup playoffs, and it’s been photo-matched. Size tagging is visible along the collar with handwritten “3”, with NHL and Reebok crests on the front and back necklines respectively. Featuring the most recognizable team crest in hockey, the “White Set 3” jersey has been embellished with tri-colour tackle twill sleeve and verso numbers, with the team patch on the inside hem. A hologram numbered GW34858 has been placed along the bottom of the “7” on verso, with a matching LOA to accompany.
Game-wear consists of a few stick marks on the lower front, with board burns over each sleeve including a small resulting hole over the right elbow. There are also small amounts of red goal-post paint transfer on the upper and lower right sleeve, along with on the bottom of the tail on the reverse. Regarding the previously mentioned photo-matches, Getty Image #80902811 from April 28th 2008 (Stanley Cup playoffs) has been matched to the marks and red paint transfer on the right elbow section, while Getty Image #81220213 from April 30th (Stanley Cup playoffs) has been matched to the long black mark on the right sleeve cuff, to the black mark at 7 o'clock on the front of the jersey (lower left area), and to a pair of loose blue threads on the team crest.
