Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2017
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 3/8/2017
The current NHL record holder for the longest consecutive shutout streak set in 1927-28, Alex Connell would see action in a dozen NHL seasons, and he would live to see his induction to Hockey’s house of holy in 1958. Presented, we have a display that features a signature from the HOF legend. A 7 ½” x 9 ½” portrait image (visible) of Connell has been double-matted and centered, with a 5 ¼” x 2” cut placed below that states “My good friend Jack – Alex Connell”. The fountain pen signature appears to have been placed originally on a document of some sort, with “Ottawa, Canada” printed to the right of the signature. With just some light toning along with a few faint stains, the signature cut remains in very good condition, with the signature and dedication dark and problem free. An LOA from Classic Auctions will accompany.
At full dimensions of roughly 12” x 16”, the display has been dry mounted, with wear to the top and bottom right corners, including a small stain along the bottom right. There is also a crease across the mouth of Connell, along with a small abrasion to the photo.
